Hydrostatic Head
Indicates the resistance of the fabric and seams to water penetration. It indicates the amount of water the material can hold before it starts to leak. The higher the value in mm, the more resistant the tent is. Every tent should have a flysheet with a hydrostatic head of at least 2,000mm, which is approximately the pressure exerted by a raindrop flying at 80–90km/h. To survive a storm unscathed, a hydrostatic head of at least 3,000mm is safer. For the groundsheet, a hydrostatic head of 5,000mm is recommended for normal hiking.
