When selecting a replacement battery, follow the camera manufacturer' s specifications as listed on the original battery or in the instruction manual. Pay attention to the voltage, which is given in volts (V), and battery capacity (mAh/Wh). The type designation of the battery is also important (eg LI-40B).
Battery capacity
Battery capacity is listed in mAh. It typically ranges from 700 to 1,400 mAh. The higher the capacity, the more pictures you can take with your camera.
- Up to 1,000 mAh - batteries with a capacity of up to 1,000 mAh are mostly used in compact cameras. Allows you to take up to 350 pictures on a single charge.
- Over 1,000 mAh - used mainly for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Usually allows you to take up to 500 pictures on a single charge.
