Choppers are best used for soft foods

Choppers allow you to cut vegetables into small or large pieces, depending on what you need. The chopped pieces remain rich with juice, making them tastier. If you like breaded cutlets or fillets, you can use a chopper to get delicious homemade breadcrumbs. Some choppers can also crush ice, but they are nor specifically made for it.

Crushers are an all-purpose tool

Crushers are mainly used for crushing ice. However, they can just as easily process any other food. Hard nuts, seeds, herbs or fruits – everything goes. Compared to a chopper, the crusher processes soft foods in an instant and into much smaller pieces, making it more suitable for preparing puree than for slicing veggies.

Power consumption determines the device performance

Power consumption indicates how much electricity the appliance uses and also affects its performance. 100 W is enough for processing fresh fruit and vegetables; all-purpose choppers and crushers require a power input of around 300 W.

Pay attention to the container volume

Choppers come with a handy container, usually glass or plastic. The choice of container volume is relatively broad. Consider in advance what you will use the device for most often. A container of up to 500 ml is enough to chop onions, but if you want to make a full vegetable salad you will need a volume of at least 1 litre.

Choose the material

The body of choppers and ice crushers is usually plastic, while their blades are made of high-quality stainless steel. The more blades the chopper has, the easier it is to process food. Appliances generally have 2-4 blades, which is sufficient.

The appliance should be portable and easy to maintain. Take note whether the individual parts can be washed in the dishwasher.

Choppers can have interesting special functions and features

Some models offer more speed settings, a TURBO button for extra fast chopping, or a practical blade that makes it easier for you to whip cream or egg whites. A non-slip pad is also a neat bonus. You will also find appliances designed for processing of a specific type of food. Examples are:
