The Seagate SkyHawk AI 8TB hard drive belongs among the high load internal HDDs for monitoring systems. 3.5" HDDs are designed mainly for desktop PCs and data centres. The overall data capacity of the HDD is 8000 GB. The drive uses a 256 MB memory cache. All the data communication between the Seagate hard disk and other hardware is takes place via the SATA III interface.

Standard HDDs are notable for their construction. The enclosure conceals a mechanism with moving platters accompanied by hard disk heads that facilitate reading and writing of data. These moving parts are not particularly resistant against shock or impact, but on the upside, this design also delivers an affordable price tag and high storage capacity. File access speed and overall stability is also affected by the disk buffer - the so-called cache. The Seagate hard drive features a 256 MB cache that stores the last used data for their fast retrieval and reading.
