Ready for Mac and Windows
The manufacturer formats the drive with the HFS+ file system, so it works with Mac computers running macOS 11 and later without any further setup. For compatibility with Windows 10 and later, the manufacturer offers a downloadable HFS+ driver. This enables you to read and write files without reformatting the drive, simplifying data transfer between the two platforms.
Data security
Stored data is protected by a combination of password protection and hardware encryption. The drive integrates 256-bit AES hardware encryption, which encodes files in real time as they are written, with no impact on performance. The drive is complemented by Acronis True Image for Western Digital software, which helps you schedule automatic backups and protects your computer system from data loss caused by ransomware attacks.
External drive design and connectivity
The drive's slim profile is based on the 2.5" format, which is ideal for carrying on the go. The device's casing is made from over 50% recycled plastic. A Micro USB-B connector on the drive's body is used for connection. The package includes a SuperSpeed USB-A cable and a USB-A to USB-C adapter. These accessories cover connections to both older and more modern computers without the need to purchase additional adapters.
