Although the length of the welding string of the welding machine reaches the declared length, it is not entirely realistic to weld bags of the same length efficiently. The operator would have to position the bag very precisely so that the edges of the foil were accurately placed on the fusing string, which would greatly increase the time required for welding. If everything was not precisely positioned, the edges would not be properly welded and the resulting weld would not be watertight. In addition, the bags/sleeves do not always have the exact width as stated by the manufacturer. Therefore, it may happen that a 200 mm wide foil sleeve may be 203 mm wide, for example, and this alone would make it unrealistic to produce a watertight weld. Therefore, always choose a foil welder with sufficient reserve. However, the reserve should not be unnecessarily high, as the fusible wire, including the Teflon fabric and silicone pressure pad, overheats unnecessarily in places where welding does not take place. For example, a welder with type marking 400 (and therefore a string length of 40 cm) is completely inappropriate for working with 10 cm wide bags.
