I’m comparing it with the old Xiaomi 13T PRO. I bought a new mobile phone mainly because I’m hoping it’ll have a longer battery life. The phone is roughly the same size – it even fits into the same case – but the bezel around the display is slimmer, so the screen looks bigger. To be honest, the 13T strikes me as more luxurious, more comfortable to hold, and the camera module looks nicer too. But it’s all tucked away in my flip case anyway, so there’s no need to worry about it. The display itself is brighter, but I’m comparing it to a two-year-old phone that’s been through a fair bit of wear and tear. The performance will probably be great, but the 17T PRO will start to overheat quite quickly. Wireless charging will be handy too – I haven’t tried that yet. The sound quality is much better. Photos are increasingly becoming like colouring books – or rather, AI-generated colouring pages. It’s no match for its Apple rivals (which it would like to emulate), but on the other hand, it’s a lot cheaper. A 5x optical zoom is a great feature.
I’ve got nothing major against HyperOS; I’ve got used to it now.
For the price, it’s actually quite a good buy.
