I fell for Synology's enticement to use their drives in their NAS. Time will tell if it was a mistake or a good buy. In ten years of WD RED operation, one drive has gone, the other is still working, so hopefully it will be similar with Synology drives.
Compared to the WD RED, they are audible in the NAS. Not much for the living room next to the TV, or the bedroom. It's unusual, compared to the WD RED, when you didn't look at the NAS lights, you didn't know if the drives were working at all.
