This is a monster that delivers "over pressure" performance in 2025. I bought it for video editing in Resolve and compared to my old 3080 12G, I reduced the time (in the same build) from 13:30 minutes to 3 minutes render time and I note that it runs on 10700KF and PCI-E gen3. Then when I put the GPU into the 14700K and gen5 PCI, I knocked another minute off, down to a 2 minute render time for the DVR benchmark. So the GPU is almost 7x faster than the RTX3080!
In the benchmark I reached 26GB VRAM usage and I'm glad I didn't buy the 5080 which would have limited me with VRAM, but it also has one less media engine and doesn't have the multi-monitor guarantee (the 5080 is pure gaming whereas the 5090 is such a gaming/pro graphics).
Aside from work, I occasionally play on a 4K monitor. what to say. I was counting on the power, but the silence? Iddle temperatures 29c! I use the FPS limiter and for most games the fans don't even turn on, they activate when the GPU goes over 50c and only run at 30%. In Cyberpunk 4K full patchtracing, the fans are running at 50% and the temperatures are not exceeding 60c! Gigabyte has managed a true work of art, the inaudible cooling in combination with such performance is almost otherworldly.
It should be noted that the GPU is in a 3 chamber Corsair AIR 5400 case and the CPU is cooled sideways via NZTX KRAKEN PLUS 360.
The price is both a plus and a minus for the reason that 67k is just 67k and that's a lot for a mainstream graphics. On the other hand, I put the price on the plus side as well because air-cooled 5090s are sold for the same price or even higher, and that's just a very big downgrade against this Waterforce.
I switched to the 5090 because of the vram and because of the bargain sale of my 4090. The performance is absolutely colossal and this gigabyte design is not only beautiful but quiet and well made. it is clear that Gigabyte has learned from the failed RTX 4090 aorus extreme waterforce and has perfected the cooling.
