Smoothie - great, no problem to blend even frozen fruit
Creamy soups - absolutely amazing. Just throw in vegetables (even frozen), vegetable broth and everything else will do itself. When I do a larger meal prep, I always peel, chop and fry over a pound of onions, and put them in a silicone muffin tin in the freezer. Then when I make soup, I peel one onion cube and just throw it in, it's a great base.
I've tried nut milks, the machine works fine, but I'm lazy to strain them afterwards, so that's out.
The machine is designed to be self-cleaning, which works most of the time, but if you do manage to get some spices or soup in the seal, you'll be all miserable trying to scrape the mess out with a toothbrush and trying to rinse the machine over the sink, which is a really impressive feat at its weight. It is the biggest minus for me, if I were to choose again, I would consider a lot whether to choose a machine that can really be disassembled and cleaned properly.
It is important to learn which programs (e.g. soups, nut milks) add water from the reservoir to the mixing bowl automatically. With smoothies, for example, this doesn't happen and you can pour water, milk or juice into the blending container according to your preference. However, if you forget that the soup machine is still allowing water from the reservoir and you have already poured in the broth from grandma, the soup may overflow at the end.
