two 2x 2K 60 Hz monitors connected. Without the power supply plugged into the dock ok. When the power supply is plugged in, after about an hour of operation, it apparently starts to overheat and the signal to the monitors drops out at 5 minute intervals. Tested for several days always the same result. Whether it was a problem with my piece or a general one I don't know, I returned it.

Hello, thank you for describing your experience. The fact that the problems only became apparent after the power supply was switched on indicates a high thermal load resulting from the combination of Power Delivery and a demanding video output (2x 2K @ 60 Hz). In such cases, a high power output flows through the unit, which the aluminium casing dissipates into the surrounding area – a common occurrence in passive cooling.
The power adaptor used may well have been the cause of the instability. According to the technical specifications, a power supply with a minimum output of 100 W is required for stable operation. If a lower-powered power supply had been used, this, combined with maximum data load, could have led to signal dropouts as a result of the device’s thermal protection being triggered.
