Wave Technology
The wireless link works with Wave technology, which supports fast data transfers over long distances. The device works with a total throughput of up to 2Gb/s thanks to the efficient use of the frequency spectrum. The integrated dual-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor runs at 1GHz. This hardware is complemented by 512MB of RAM. The memory helps to coordinate network traffic and maintain stable communication even under high load on the connected station.
Fast Ubiquiti WiFi Antenna
The device operates in the licence-free 60GHz band, which offers wide channels and low levels of interference from other sources. In the event of adverse weather, the system switches to a backup frequency in the 5GHz band, where the transfer speed reaches 800Mbps. This combination of two frequency bands prevents unexpected wireless connection dropouts during heavy rain or snow. The backup radio uses the 802.11ax standard, or WiFi 6, with dual linear polarisation.
Directional Parameters
The panel design has a 30° beamwidth and focuses the radiated power into a narrow beam. The antenna gain is 27.7dBi, which is used to establish a connection at a distance of up to 1,300m. Vertical polarisation helps to eliminate unwanted signal reflections from surrounding terrain and buildings. The beamwidth in both azimuth and elevation is 6° at a 3dB drop. The directional characteristics make it easy to accurately target the opposite access point in a PtMP network.
Construction
The polycarbonate housing is UV resistant and protects the internal components from external influences. The IP66 rating defines its resistance to dust ingress and powerful water jets. The device operates in a temperature range of -40 to 60°C and can withstand a wind pressure of 31.3N at a speed of 200km/h. The total body dimensions are 15.2 × 15.2 × 5.6cm and the weight without the mounting kit is 347g. With the pole mounting kit, the weight increases to 409g.
Power Options
A single cable that transmits both data and power is all that is needed for operation. Support for the 802.3af standard simplifies connection to existing network infrastructure using compatible switches. The package includes a power adapter with gigabit Ethernet support that operates with an output voltage of 48V DC and a current of 0.5A. The device supports passive PoE over 2-pairs or 4-pairs of conductors in the voltage range of 44–54V DC and the power consumption does not exceed 10W.
Management
Setup and monitoring is done through the centralised UISP system, which offers an overview of the wireless link status. The mobile app makes it easy to align the device in the field using a smartphone with iOS or Android. Integrated tools measure signal quality and test the throughput of the entire route in real time. The system also includes tools for cable testing, surrounding network discovery, pinging, and route tracing to facilitate on-site diagnostics.
