TP-Link EAP673 Omada

TP-Link EAP673 Omada
The TP-Link EAP673 Omada WiFi Access Point is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point designed for high-density client networks, such as offices, educational institutions, or hospitality venues. The Omada WiFi 6 AP provides an aggregate transfer speed of up to 5378Mbps, split between 4804Mbps on the 5GHz band and 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. It integrates advanced technologies to achieve high throughput and communication efficiency. It uses a 160MHz channel width on the 5GHz band, which doubles data throughput for compatible devices. It combines 1024-QAM modulation, which increases data transfer efficiency, with OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies. This combination of technologies reduces network latency and increases capacity to simultaneously serve a large number of devices without a noticeable drop in performance.
Key features of the TP-Link EAP673 Omada WiFi Access Point
- Uses MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies for efficient simultaneous communication with multiple clients
- Omada Mesh technology wirelessly connects access points to extend coverage
- Managed via the centralised Omada SDN cloud platform with a mobile app
- Features one 2.5GbE LAN port for a high-speed connection
- Network security is provided by WPA3-Enterprise support
- Supports access point and repeater operating modes
- Support for a 160MHz channel doubles data throughput on a single stream
- Transmission power of 25dBm for the 2.4GHz band and 30dBm for the 5GHz band
- Can be powered via 802.3at PoE+ or a 12V DC adapter
High throughput and network efficiency
The access point supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards, maintaining backward compatibility with older client devices and facilitating a gradual transition to the next generation of Wi-Fi without needing to immediately replace all end stations. The combination of 1024-QAM modulation, which encodes more data into a single symbol, and the wide 160MHz channel delivers high transfer speeds for demanding applications. In environments with a large number of connected clients, such as lecture halls or conference rooms, MU-MIMO and OFDMA increase network efficiency. OFDMA divides the channel into smaller sub-channels, serving more clients in a single transmission cycle, which reduces latency.
Flexible deployment with Omada Mesh on the TP-Link EAP673 Omada
Omada Mesh technology wirelessly links multiple access points to extend signal coverage without needing to run a data cable to each point. This allows you to create an extensive and flexible network in areas where cabling is difficult or expensive. Omada Mesh creates a unified wireless network with support for 802.11k/v standards for seamless roaming between points. Connected devices automatically and seamlessly connect to the access point with the optimal signal, which is crucial for VoIP calls, video conferences, or video streaming while moving around the building. The network also has a self-healing function; if one of the mesh nodes loses its connection, the system automatically reroutes data through other available nodes to keep the network operational.
Centralised management via Omada SDN
Management and configuration are handled via the Omada Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platform. It offers centralised management of the entire network, including access points, switches, and gateways, from a web interface or mobile app. The solution enables both local and remote management via the cloud. The Zero-Touch Provisioning feature significantly simplifies deployment across multiple locations. Centralised management via the Omada SDN platform facilitates configuration, network monitoring, and managing multiple branches from a single interface. An administrator can remotely deploy and configure networks without needing a technician on-site, which reduces operational costs. The platform also provides a clear dashboard for real-time network status monitoring, traffic analysis, and receiving anomaly alerts.
Advanced network security and connection options
Network and data protection are handled by modern WPA, WPA2-Enterprise, and WPA3-Personal/Enterprise encryption protocols. The implementation of the WPA3 standard brings robust encryption methods to protect against network attacks, including protection against offline password guessing. In addition to encryption, the access point offers other security features, such as a Captive Portal for secure guest authentication via SMS, Facebook, a voucher, or other methods. Support for WPA3-Enterprise meets the requirements of corporate networks for reliable authentication and access security. The device also supports network segmentation using VLAN (802.1Q), which allows guest traffic to be separated from the internal corporate network, thereby increasing overall security. Other features include MAC address filtering and rogue access point detection. A 2.5GbE LAN port provides the connection to the backbone network. This fully utilises the speed potential of the Wi-Fi 6 standard and eliminates any potential bottleneck between the wireless and wired parts of the network. The device supports power via 802.3at PoE+ or a 12V DC adapter, which is not included in the package.
