Dunkleosteus was an armored fish of eight to ten meters long, which was unusually large for the period in which he lived. He was one of the first large fish from the underwater world, along with Titanichthys. Dunkleosteus lived 130-150 million years before the first dinosaurs. He was a fearsome hunter who snapped his prey unbelievably, eating large sharks, and even his kind. Fish fossils, which were only half digestible, were often discovered along with its skeleton. It was named after paleontologist David Dunkle. The word "osteos" is the Greek term for "bone".
