780 lumens of power and a beam distance of up to 160 metres
The light is produced by a single 12-watt high-power LED. Its 780-lumen flux illuminates the entire surrounding area, not just a narrow cone at your feet, and its beam distance of up to 160 metres is enough to make out the edge of your property, a row of trees, or the end of a hall in high mode. The battery life is approximately 3 hours on a single charge and varies depending on the selected mode: high mode drains the cell the fastest, while dimmer modes last significantly longer. For a night-time dog walk, checking the cellar, or walking on an unpaved path, low or medium mode is sufficient, with full power being useful when you need to see into the distance.
Five modes and single-button control
The torch offers five modes: low, medium, high, strobe, and SOS. You can cycle through them using a single button on the side of the head, which you press with the thumb of the hand holding the torch. This means you can switch modes with one hand, even while wearing gloves. A double-click bypasses the cycle and switches straight to high mode. The dimmer modes are ideal for reading a map or moving around a campsite where full power would be dazzling and would unnecessarily drain the battery. Strobe and SOS are not for everyday use, but they are great to have in your car or backpack on a trip, where they can be used to attract attention and for signalling.
Magnetic base for hands-free work
There's a magnet in the base of the torch, which allows the FL6 to attach to a car bonnet, a metal distribution board, a metal shelf, or a car jack. The light then points exactly where you're working, leaving both hands free for your tools. This is a game-changer when working under the bonnet, in the garage, or in a distribution box where there is nowhere to put the torch down. The magnet holds on ferromagnetic metals, i.e. steel and cast iron.
Aluminium body and IP44 rating
The body is made of an aluminium alloy with an anodised finish. The metal dissipates the heat generated in the head of the torch at full power, which is why there's a HOT warning on the head: after prolonged use in high mode, the surface around the reflector heats up, and it's advisable to hold the torch by its body. The knurling on the central part improves grip, even when wearing gloves or with wet hands. The IP44 rating protects the electronics against dust and splashing water, so the torch can handle rain or snow when working outdoors. However, it is not protected against submersion, so the torch should not be placed underwater or under a strong jet of water. For normal outdoor use, the garage, and the workshop, this rating is sufficient.
USB-C charging and a replaceable 18650 cell
The USB-C charging connector is located under a cover directly on the torch body, so the battery doesn't need to be removed for charging. It charges from the same adapter as your phone or from a computer's USB port. The input is 5V⎓1A, and a USB-C to USB-C cable is included in the package. The cover also protects the connector from dust and moisture when you carry the torch in your pocket or backpack. Inside, it runs on a single replaceable 18650 Li-ion cell with a capacity of 2200mAh (3.7V, 8.14Wh). It is not sealed within the body, so after years of charging cycles, when the cell's capacity gradually decreases, you can simply insert a new one and the torch will continue to serve you well.
Dimensions and everyday carry
The body measures 128×28×26mm and weighs 138 grams. The torch fits in a jacket pocket, a side pocket of a backpack, or the glove compartment of a car, where it won't take up much space and is always at hand when you need it. The body diameter is designed for one-handed operation, leaving your other hand free for tools, keys, or a lead. A clip is included in the package, which you can use to attach the torch to a backpack strap, a trouser pocket, or a belt. This keeps the light within easy reach, so you don't have to search for it at the bottom of your backpack every time you put it down and pick it up again.
