The Garmont 9.81 Engage low-cut unisex shoe is designed for dynamic hiking, light terrain, and trail activities on paved and unpaved roads. The technical solution combines a breathable synthetic upper with a waterproof GORE-TEX Extended Comfort membrane and a Vibram sole. The overall concept emphasizes a low weight of 328 g and the use of sustainable materials.
Recycled upper and foot fixation
The shoe is based on 3D polyester mesh, ensuring a high level of breathability. This material, like the collar and laces, comes from 100% recycled polyester. To increase stability on uneven terrain, the shoe uses G-WRAP technology, which effectively wraps the instep and fixes the foot in the correct position. Mechanical resistance is increased by reinforcement on the toe and heel, which protects the foot from impacts and abrasion from stones or roots.
Sole and cushioning properties of Garmont 9.81 Engage trekking boots
Contact with the surface is provided by a Vibram sole with a tread pattern optimized for grip on both dry and wet surfaces. The EVA foam midsole, made using sugarcane biomaterials, absorbs shock upon landing and provides the necessary response for fast movement. The interior space is complemented by an anatomically shaped removable insole with 20% recycled material, which contributes to overall comfort.
Waterproof and thermoregulation
Protection against external moisture is provided by the GORE-TEX Extended Comfort membrane. This functional laminate prevents water from penetrating the inside of the shoe while at the same time allowing effective moisture transport to the outside. Thanks to this, the internal microclimate remains stable even with higher physical intensity in spring, summer or autumn conditions.
