Where cashews take on a new dimension
Vietnam is not just about rice and pho - cashews are its quiet pride. The nuts here undergo strictly controlled processing in modern factories that pride themselves on purity, hand sorting and preserving the original flavour. It is thanks to these practices that Vietnamese cashews are considered the best processed in the world. Vietnamese cashews can be found on tables all over the world today - and at Bery Jones, you can be sure of the best harvest.
Historical interest
Although the cashew tree's original homeland is Brazil, the nuts made their way to India and Southeast Asia via Portuguese seafarers in the 16th century. Vietnam has only come to the fore in modern times - a combination of favourable climate and investment in processing technology has seen the country rise to become the world's largest cashew exporter within a few decades.
What does WW320 mean?
The WW320 designation indicates that these are uniformly sized, light-coloured whole nuts ('White Whole'), which are ideal for direct consumption and other uses. The number represents the number of nuts per pound, where a lower number means larger kernels. The WW320 size is thus the golden mean providing an excellent balance between size, price and quality.
