Sennheiser HD480 PRO

The Sennheiser HD 480 PRO are professional, closed-back, over-ear studio headphones designed for mixing, mastering, recording, and sound editing. The dynamic 38mm drivers with neodymium magnets and an ultra-light voice coil are designed for precise and natural reproduction with a neutral character. The closed-back design is complemented by multi-stage passive isolation, which limits ambient noise and sound leakage from the headphones. The model uses the Vibration Attenuation System to dampen vibrations and reduce distortion.

Precise reproduction for studio work

The Sennheiser HD 480 PRO are designed for precise listening when mixing, mastering, recording and editing audio. The neutral reproduction character helps to maintain a natural delivery of individual parts of the sound spectrum without intentional emphasis. The dynamic 38mm drivers use neodymium magnets and an ultra-light voice coil for dynamic and natural reproduction. The Vibration Attenuation System reduces vibrations and helps to lower distortion. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is less than 0.5% at 1kHz and 100dB SPL.

Closed-back design and passive isolation

The closed-back, over-ear design reduces the penetration of ambient sounds and the leakage of reproduced sound into the surroundings. Multi-level passive isolation allows you to concentrate on listening during studio work, recording, and field work. The earcups optimise the position of the drivers and support consistent listening. The ergonomic design is engineered to limit pressure points during long work sessions. The weight of the headphones themselves, without the cable, is 272g.

Flexible connection and serviceable design

The detachable cable can be connected to the left or right side of the headphones to adapt the cable routing to a specific workstation. Connection is provided by a 3.5mm jack and an adapter for a 6.3mm jack. The design allows for servicing and replacement of individual components for long-term use. The replaceable ear pads are washable, which facilitates their ongoing maintenance. A soft protective pouch allows the headphones to be stored when travelling or between work sessions.

Impedance

This figure indicates how demanding the headphones are on the power supply. Headphones with a lower impedance (e.g. 32Ω) are ideal for mobiles and laptops. Higher impedance (e.g. 80Ω and above) is more suitable for Hi-Fi players and amplifiers.

Frequency Range

Indicates what sounds the headphones can play. The normal range is 20Hz–20kHz, which corresponds to what the human ear can hear. Lower Hz = deeper bass, higher kHz = more detailed treble.
