Registered memory is equipped with its own controller, which controls access to individual memory modules, thus facilitating work on the motherboard or processor. It behaves externally as a single module - the register chip - which takes care of writing and reading from individual memory cells, and the controller transfers the result of these operations. This increases the efficiency of memory access and processing speed even when multiple memory modules are used at the same time. Some server boards require registered memory.
