With the Schleich Indian Rhinoceros figure you can discover the interesting world of wild animals. What is a rhinoceros actually like? The Indian rhinoceros or armoured rhinoceros is one of the large heavy ungulates. It has thick, light grey skin dotted with small bumps. The skin forms plates connected by deep folds, making the rhino look as if it is wearing armour. This species of rhinoceros has only one horn. The rhino weighs 1.6 - 2.6 tonnes, making it one of the heaviest living land animals. He can jump decently and can run up to 35 - 40 km per hour. The Indian rhino's sense of smell and hearing is very sensitive, but its eyesight is worse, as rhinos are nearsighted. The Indian rhinoceros is an excellent swimmer and can even dive and search for food underwater. He likes to wallow in the mud, which helps his skin and protects it against parasites, and on hot days the mud cools him and protects him against sunburn.
