A variety designed for gradual harvesting of leaves, which are used similarly to spinach and petioles for salads and soups. Chard is a rich green and healthier than spinach, especially because it does not contain as much oxalic acid. Because it is related to beets, it contains betaine. Betaine, along with other ingredients, is effective against blood vessel corrosion, activates the liver and prevents its fatty degeneration. Mangold also promotes, among other things, the production and secretion of digestive juices and is very effective in the prevention of cancer. It can tolerate partial shade well and its growth is favoured by higher humidity and moist soil conditions. Its cultivation is particularly suitable in warmer regions. It prefers soil with a higher nutrient content. It is harvested gradually, turning over again after the leaves are cut, thus providing a harvest throughout the growing season.
