The GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS ELITE AX motherboard is an ATX model designed for 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Intel processors with an Intel 1700 socket. Smart Power Stage and an 8+8 phase parallel design ensure a stable power supply even under high load. A 6-layer PCB with a double copper layer and PCIe 5.0 Mid-Loss PCB optimises power delivery and resists signal loss. Integrated MOSFET heatsinks and a 6mm heatpipe, along with 7.5 W/mK thermal paste, ensure efficient heat dissipation.
Memory and expansion
Support for four DDR5 DIMM slots up to 256GB of system memory, including XMP 3.0 and ECC Un-buffered modules (in non-ECC mode), guarantees flexibility for high-speed configurations. The full PCIe 4.0 design includes 4× PCIe 4.0 slots, complemented by PCIe EZ-Latch for fast graphics card installation.
Connectivity and networking
The board features 2.5GbE LAN, Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211, and Bluetooth 5.3. The USB interface includes rear USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 1/2, and USB 2.0 ports. Smart Fan 6 offers hybrid 4-pin PWM/DC connectors for up to six fans and four for water pumps. Temperature sensors, water flow sensors, and fan speed control ensure efficient cooling and quiet operation. An integrated chassis intrusion sensor and a 4-pin RGB LED header monitor the system's operational status.
Personalisation and software
The UEFI BIOS and GIGABYTE Control Center let you configure the BIOS, manage fans, control lighting, and quickly update the firmware using Q-Flash Plus without installing a CPU, memory, or graphics card.
