You can jump into co-op battles or test your skills against others in competitive matches that build on the series' proven foundations while introducing modernised gameplay elements.
CLASSES
Cooperate with Other Players
The iconic co-op Horde mode returns as Horde Siege, which expands on the original concept with larger maps, more participants, and more extensive battles. In Gears of War: E-Day Xbox Series X|S / Windows, you'll choose one of four classes—Assault, Marksman, Medic, or Breacher—and fend off Locust attacks together with your teammates. Joining multiple teams allows you to complete shared objectives, defeat world bosses, and earn rewards, customisation options, and equipment upgrades.
VERSUS
4v4 Combat
The competitive side of the series is represented by the return of Versus mode, which brings new maps and redesigned favourite 4v4 combat variants. Thanks to improved movement and controls, the battles in Gears of War: E-Day Xbox Series X|S / Windows feel more dynamic, while retaining the signature cover system. Jumps, traversing between obstacles, flanking opponents, and quick manoeuvres provide greater freedom in every encounter.
ATMOSPHERE
New Enemies Are Coming
A darker atmosphere takes the sense of danger to a new level, and in Gears of War: E-Day Xbox Series X|S / Windows, you'll encounter redesigned enemies and entirely new monsters. The environments feel more detailed, realistic, and dangerous than ever before, while the return of familiar weapons is complemented by new armaments designed for brutal close-quarters combat. Additionally, modernised movement adds greater verticality and new ways to explore the battlefield.

Play Across Platforms
The technological foundation, built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5, allows for the most immersive experience the series has ever offered. Gears of War: E-Day Xbox Series X|S / Windows supports 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR10, and ray tracing for realistic lighting, reflections, and shadows. Optimisation includes support for ultrawide monitors, an uncapped frame rate on high-performance rigs, and gameplay on Steam Deck, Xbox Ally X, and Xbox Ally devices. Thanks to account linking, you can transfer save files, invite friends across platforms, and engage in online co-op for 2–4 players or competitive matches for up to 8 participants.
