Each of the service robots (called GENIE) has a routine routine, and the artificial intelligence system behind their behaviour also coordinates the efforts of these robots to maximise their efficiency. The Doctor isn't a hand-to-hand combat specialist or a skilled gunfighter, he's just an average guy when it comes to "combat". However, as a tech-savvy researcher, he is able to hack, disrupt and manipulate all these malicious AIs to navigate this dangerous automated device.
