A compact ultra-wide angle lens, the widest lens in the XF lens lineup with a focal length of 8mm (equivalent to 12mm in full-frame format) and a 121° screen size and 112° horizontal viewing angle. Extremely wide field of view with minimal distortion, providing a dynamic perspective that zooms in on objects while shifting the background to infinity. Focusing speeds are improved by the internal focusing mechanism and its weatherproof design. It is ideal for architecture and landscape photography, travel photography, as well as vlogging.

High sharpness and image quality thanks to wide focal length and advanced optics

Designed to work with the latest 40Mpx X-Trans sensors, the extra wide focal length provides sharpness throughout the frame with 2 extra low dispersion and 3 aspherical elements to suppress lens aberrations. A total of 12 elements arranged in 9 groups provide a clear, high-quality image with excellent sharpness.

Compact ultra-wide angle lens with improved light transmission and low distortion

The placement of aspherical elements to eliminate distortion at the front of the lens reduces its overall size, and unlike some other ultra-wide-angle lenses, the XF 8mm f/3.5 R WR is only 68mm in diameter and 52.8mm long. XF 8mm has a f/3.5 aperture and Super EBC (Electron Beam Coating) coating. The multi-layer coating developed by Fujifilm increases light transmission for better colour and contrast while reducing glare.

Extremely fast autofocus for sports and action photography

As for autofocus, The lens uses an internal focusing mechanism and a short focusing lens path, can focus in as little as 0.02 seconds, which is useful for sports photography and shooting dynamic action scenes, especially when combined with autofocus with subject tracking on the latest Fujifilm cameras.

Excellent autofocus and wide angle for video shooting

The fast autofocus with barely noticeable focus shift (focus breathing) makes the lens an excellent companion for shooting video as well. When used with the FUJIFILM X-S20 and the new Vlog function, the equivalent focal length of 12mm with the camera's digital stabilisation is cropped to 13mm.This angle of view is wide enough to allow people to film themselves while keeping a lot of the environment visible in the rest of the image.

Compact lens with metal construction and filter options for landscape and film photography

The compact lens has a metal construction with a manual focus ring and aperture lock ring. Front is threaded for 62 mm diameter filters without the need for an adapter. This is an advantage over the XF8-16mm zoom, which does not support screw-in filters, especially for landscape photographers and filmmakers who use circular filters, including polarizing and neutral density (ND) filters.

Weatherproof with fluorine coating and heavy-duty seal

The front lens has a fluorine coating that helps repel water droplets and fingerprints. As evidenced by the "WR" in the model name, the XF 8mm f/3.5 R WR lens is weatherproof and has a 10-point seal to keep dust and moisture out of the lens. It is capable of operating at temperatures as low as -10 °C.
