Soft bait is a type of bait designed for the extermination of pests, primarily rodents such as mice or rats. It is a substance with a soft, pasty or dough-like consistency, which is very attractive in taste and smell to the target animals due to added fats and aromatic substances. The main ingredient, however, is the active substance, the so-called rodenticide, which is a poison that kills the animal after ingestion. Due to its high palatability, it is effective even in environments with ample other food, as rodents often prefer it. It is usually packaged in small sachets made of material that pests can easily gnaw through, which simplifies safe handling and placement of the bait.
