Size Detection
Size detection verifies whether a banknote corresponds to the prescribed size. As the banknote passes through the counter, sensors measure the length and width of each banknote and, where applicable, its thickness. The measured values are compared with the dimensions stored for the given currency and denomination, with a small tolerance allowed. As a result, the counter detects banknotes of other denominations, cut or torn pieces, banknotes stuck together with tape and, where applicable, double feeding, when two banknotes enter the mechanism at once. Suspicious banknotes are rejected or the operator is alerted. Size detection is a simple and fast method that is usually combined with other ways of verifying authenticity.
