Manual focus

Manual focus is a method in which the operator sets image sharpness personally, most often by turning a focus ring or shifting the lens. It makes it possible to decide exactly which subject or plane will be sharp and is not affected by autofocus errors. It is useful in low-contrast scenes, in poor lighting or when changing focus deliberately. The drawback is that focusing requires attention, which is harder during fast movement. The correct setting is usually checked on the display or in a magnified preview. A fixed focus setting is often suitable for static shots and for use on a tripod or mount.
