Curved Cut

A curved cut is a cut guided along a curved path, in which arcs, circles or complex shapes are cut out of the material. A band saw is well suited to this type of cut because it has a narrow saw band that can be guided even around a small radius. The narrower the band, the smaller the radius of the curve that can be cut. During the cut, the operator smoothly turns the material and guides it along a pre-drawn line. The correct feed rate is important so that the band does not jam or drift off the line. Curved cutting is widely used in the production of furniture, decorations, templates and other shaped parts.
