GLONASS in the camera
GLONASS is a Russian global satellite positioning system that serves as an alternative or supplement to the better-known American GPS system. If a dashcam supports GLONASS—usually in combination with GPS—it can communicate with a larger number of satellites in Earth’s orbit. This results in faster location detection and, above all, more accurate and reliable positioning. In practice, this is particularly noticeable in areas with poor signal reception, such as dense urban areas with tall buildings, deep valleys, or forested regions. As a result, the recorded data on the route and driving speed are more precise.
