CIS Detection
The CIS inspection uses a Contact Image Sensor (CIS) located in close proximity to the passing banknote. The sensor captures a detailed digital image of the banknote, which is then analyzed for features such as graphic elements, fine lines, and the layout of the print. The counter compares the acquired image with stored banknote templates and, based on the match, determines the currency, denomination, and, if applicable, the orientation of the banknote. This enables the processing of mixed denominations and the detection of banknotes that do not match any template. CIS inspection is often combined with other sensors, such as IR or UV, thereby increasing the accuracy of verification. The higher the sensor’s resolution, the finer the details that can be evaluated.
