The maximum long-term power, often referred to as RMS, AES or nominal power, represents the highest power a loudspeaker can handle over the long term without risk of damage. Higher RMS amplifier power is acceptable, providing a margin for dynamic peaks. When distortion occurs, the volume should be reduced.
