Fabric upholstery cleaning procedure
Before cleaning, vacuum loose dirt from the upholstery. Spray evenly onto the soiled surface and let it work for at least 30 seconds. Wipe the surface thoroughly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth to transfer the dirt from the upholstery onto the cloth. Before each wipe, fold the cloth to a clean section to prevent recontaminating the surface. Finally, wipe the entire upholstery surface with a second, dry and clean microfibre cloth. Some stubborn dirt and stains (especially coffee stains and others) may require repeated application.
Alcantara cleaning procedure
Alcantara is not leather, but a special type of microfibre, so treat it similarly to microfibre, but more gently. Alcantara is much more susceptible to mechanical damage than regular microfibre. Preventing dirt is a great way to maintain Alcantara. Regular vacuuming and avoiding stains is therefore the best method to keep Alcantara soft to the touch and looking beautiful and luxurious for a long time.
Lightly and heavily soiled Alcantara
For lightly soiled Alcantara, spray a little distilled water onto a clean microfibre cloth. Wipe the soiled surface, making sure the Alcantara does not absorb the water. Wipe the surface dry with a second, dry and clean microfibre cloth. Do not wipe Alcantara with heavy pressure or force – you risk damaging it mechanically. For heavily soiled Alcantara, spray a very small amount of G9416 Meguiar’s Carpet & Interior Cleaner. Make sure the Alcantara surface does not soak up the product. Use a very soft brush (such as a soft horsehair brush, which you can find in our range) to loosen the dirt from the Alcantara, then gently wipe it away with a dry, clean microfibre cloth and dry the surface completely.
Important tips for cleaning Alcantara:
Always vacuum loose dirt thoroughly before cleaning. Use only a soft horsehair brush (available in our range) or the damp microfibre cloth methour Brushes with hard bristles, such as nylon, could damage or tear Alcantara. Dampen the microfibre cloth frequently during cleaning to prevent recontaminating the surface. Use only distilled water. Regular water contains dissolved minerals that could leave watermarks and stains on the Alcantara surface. Make sure the Alcantara surface does not soak up water or cleaning products. Soaking Alcantara risks forming stains and watermarks. Work with Alcantara very gently and carefully. Alcantara is much more susceptible to mechanical damage than regular fabrics. For heavier soiling or stubborn stains, you may need to repeat the cleaning process. Bear in mind that 2–3 gentle cleaning sessions are always better than 1 aggressive clean! Never use aggressive cleaners, bleach-containing products, or solvents.
Recommendation:Older and dried-in stains may require repeated application. If you need to clean a wet stain, such as coffee, first dry the surface with a clean, dry microfibre cloth or paper towel to remove excess and wet liquid. Only then clean the soil using the procedure described above.
