APC Smart-UPS C 2000VA LCD 230V (1300W)

The APC Smart-UPS C 2000VA backup power supply with line-interactive topology delivers a pure sine wave voltage for company servers and network components. It offers a nominal power of 2000VA and a real power of 1300W. The 230V output voltage with a pure sine wave protects sensitive power supplies. At half load, the backup time is 17 minutes. The tower design makes it easy to place directly in office spaces, and the vertical construction measuring 216×170×440mm takes up little floor space. Input power is provided by an IEC 320 C20 connector, while device connections use 6 IEC 320 C13 sockets and 1 IEC 320 C19 socket, which provide both battery backup and surge protection. The system protects the battery from deep discharge and meets EN/IEC 62040-1 and EN/IEC 62040-2 safety standards.

Line-interactive topology

The backup power supply uses line-interactive topology to stabilise the input power. During a mains failure, the system switches to battery power within a few milliseconds and delivers a pure sine wave. This principle protects connected devices from a sudden interruption of the electricity supply. The integrated technology effectively compensates for voltage fluctuations in the mains. Automatic voltage regulation adjusts high and low voltages to a safe level, thereby saving battery capacity for an actual outage.

Power parameters

This device provides an apparent power of 2000VA and a real power of 1300W. These parameters are sufficient for powering business servers, network components and data storage. The output voltage has a nominal value of 230V at a frequency of 50Hz, synchronised with the mains. The stable delivery of a pure sine wave protects sensitive power supplies from damage. Harmonic distortion drops below 5% at full load, which prevents interference with connected appliances and increases operational stability.

Operation and construction

Operating in eco-mode reduces electricity consumption and lowers the heat released into the surrounding area. Efficiency at 100% load is 98.8%, confirming the high efficiency of the internal circuits. At 50% load, it achieves an efficiency of 98.1%. Economical operation reduces overall electricity costs in a business environment. The thermal output corresponds to a value of 135 BTU/hr, which reduces the demands on air conditioning in the room where the device is installed. The tower chassis in black is designed for vertical installation next to servers or desktop computers. The dimensions are 216×170×440mm with a weight of 27.5kg. The design does not require mounting in a rack and takes up little space.

Backup power for data protection

The integrated battery provides enough time to safely shut down all running processes. The backup time at 50% load is exactly 17 min with a power draw of 650W. At full load at the 1300W limit, the operating time on battery is 6 min and 45 s. This time frame is sufficient for saving work in progress and correctly shutting down systems. The adequate time reserve prevents the loss of important company data. The system supports a load ranging from 130W to 1300W. 

Lead-acid battery and its maintenance

The device contains a built-in maintenance-free lead-acid battery with an expected lifespan of 3 to 5 years. The charging power of the integrated system is 166W, and it takes approximately 3 hours to charge to full capacity. Users can easily replace the battery with an APCRBC148 module themselves if it wears out, without needing service assistance. The ability to easily replace the battery extends the overall lifespan of the entire device. The replacement is safe and restores the original backup parameters.

Surge protection

Integrated protective circuits absorb dangerous voltage spikes in the electrical network. The surge energy rating is 300J. The noise filter provides continuous multi-pole filtering of electromagnetic interference with zero response time. Lightning and surge protection prevents hardware damage to expensive electronics. The filtering system meets the UL 1449 standard and lets through only 0.3% of surge voltage according to IEEE standards, thus protecting sensitive network components.

Management and quiet operation

Integrated USB and serial interfaces ensure connection with a computer or server, transmitting power status information directly to the operating system. Management is simplified by PowerChute software, which enables automatic data saving and safe shutdown of connected servers during a power outage. The device operates reliably in a temperature range of 0°C to 40°C and at a relative humidity of 0 to 95%. The noise level of the cooling system does not exceed 45dBA, making it suitable even for a standard office environment. The storage temperature ranges from -15°C to 45°C.
