The optical design includes 17 elements in 14 groups, including special optical elements (ASP, H-ASP, HR and ED) that suppress optical defects and provide high resolution across the entire image. The f/2.8 luminosity throughout the zoom range allows for effective depth of field work, which is useful for both subject isolation and subtle background blur. The nine-blade aperture ensures natural bokeh.
