My experience with the Xiaomi 17T Pro: I had the chance to try it out before I bought it, and: A solid piece of kit that won’t let me down
I was looking for a phone I could rely on 100 per cent – one that wouldn’t lag when using sat-nav or even with ten apps open at once, and above all, one that would last for a good number of kilometres without needing to be charged. Having used it for a while now, I have to say that the Xiaomi 17T Pro has hit the nail on the head.
Here are the things I’m excited about, and one little thing that’s a bit of a shame:
This torch is absolutely brilliant: The manufacturer has fitted this new silicon battery, and you can certainly tell the difference. The phone is beautifully slim, but the battery life is incredible. Even though I’m giving him a hard time, he’ll easily get through a whole demanding day and then some. And when the battery runs out, I’ll top it up via the cable in a couple of minutes.
Performance to spare: No waiting, no tugging. The system runs like a dream, whether I’m switching between apps or just want to pass the time with a game.
A display that’s a joy to look at: It’s really easy to read, even when the sun’s beating down on it. The colours are brilliant, and it doesn’t strain your eyes, even after looking at the screen for a long time in the evening.
A camera that won’t let you down: The photos are sharp, with excellent detail, and, most importantly, the video is steady and doesn’t shake, which comes in handy in any situation.
The screen is a real fingerprint magnet: If there’s one thing that really annoys me about my phone, it’s that factory-fitted screen protector. It smudges very easily and shows every smear or fingerprint. You end up constantly wiping your phone on your T-shirt because the screen looks dirty straight away. The manufacturer could have used a better grease-resistant coating; as it is, I’ll probably sort it out in time by removing it and buying a proper protective glass cover. It’s also a shame that the pack no longer includes a charging adapter, just a cable.
