Some reviews mention that the mesh doesn't hold on the zips, which isn't true. By running your fingers back and forth over the zip with a little pressure, the mesh settles in nicely. It just needs to be slightly taut in the window, then the side tension makes the zip do its job. I wiped the window frame two or three times with a cloth and a weak solution of washing-up liquid, let it dry, and then stuck on the tapes. The result was that the tape couldn't even be peeled off the frame; it tore when I tried. The internal mesh size is 1 to 1.1mm, which is sufficient for the vast majority of insects. As a major negative, I would add that the included tools are poorly moulded. The small spatula for fitting the mesh into the zip tore it. And the knife had a poorly pressed blade, so when trimming the overhanging ends, the mesh would get pulled out of the zip. Luckily, I ordered two packs for two windows, and the knife in the second one was in better condition and quite usable. (I'm attaching photos of both problems)
It’s true that the net is very easy to put up and has held up brilliantly for a whole year, but those little fruit fly beasts have turned those tiny holes into a great climbing frame and manage to get into the flat and then fly straight back out again. It’s a net to keep out large insects, but it won’t stop these tiny, clever little creatures.
For a less skilled person, moreover, when installed on plastic, adjustable windows with differently arched frames etc., the installation is an absolute hell and basically impossible.
The velcro net, despite being pushed with the special tool in the package, doesn't hold any extra, so its functionality would be pretty pofidery anyway.
At a price of over 300, - it flew right into the trash, which is a big waste of money.
Better to have someone skilled install it, you really need to play around with it a lot, or have absolutely simple windows where nothing will get in the way of installation.
Quite a difficult installation, but for the price, it's doable.
It doesn't look very nice up close, and I don't feel like a klutz: D. You can't see it from a distance.
