Very quiet. It has 9 speeds. At speed 5, you can only just start to hear it turning. It's really great for sleeping at night, and I say that as someone who is really bothered by even a little noise. The rotation is nice when you don't want the air blowing directly on you (you can point it towards the ceiling). It also has one 'mega' speed that will blow away anything that isn't nailed down. On hot days, it ran practically non-stop for us all summer, so its durability is brilliant in my opinion. Genuinely satisfied. We bought the same one last year, and another one this year, and we definitely didn't make a mistake (the first one has been running almost non-stop for 2 summers). It's a really great companion.
