I have the BOSE Quiet Comfort Earbuds II, which I consider to be the best in terms of sound quality and ANC. Perfect for music and on planes and trains. I was looking for headphones for sports, podcasts, and long wear, where I could also hear my surroundings but which would still have quality sound for music. This type of design is a winner, and for me, the OpenDots 2 are the absolute winner in this category.
You won't even know you're wearing them. You can easily get the stated 10 hours out of them.

They aren't as good for high-quality music listening as the best in-ear headphones, but they're pretty close (better than earbuds).
If I had to choose just one pair of universal headphones, it would definitely be these.

I've only been using open-back headphones for 11 years. These are partially in-ear, but you can still hear your surroundings. That is, unless you have the volume at full whack with the "Dolby audio" option on, then the music and bass will cut you off from reality 😂
