I bought this vacuum because we have a puppy so there is a lot of hair, dust and chewed up stuff everywhere. Sometimes we drown in stones. It can vacuum all of this up just fine. He can handle ashes and dust just fine, chewed plush toys too, I pick up the chewed wood with my hands, but he can suck up small chips (size 1-2 cm), he can handle spilled pellets too. We don't have much carpet though (we only have one with a short pile) and it doesn't seem to suck that well. Otherwise, we have tile everywhere and it's great. I hardly use the broom anymore.
