Heats water quickly, the beeping is subtle, the thermometer shows the temperature in 1°C increments, and it can be set from 40°C in 10° intervals up to 100°C. When you lift it from the base, it turns off immediately; the base stays lit for about 10 mins and then turns off. I was surprised that the base is smaller than the bottom of the kettle. I'm completely satisfied, it's just a shame it doesn't have a water level indicator, but that's just something to get used to.
