I wanted to replace an old Philips toaster whose power cord had broken (replacing it is not trivial in home conditions, and I might have paid the price of a new appliance at a service station). It served us to our full satisfaction for more than 10 years and it showed. This Sencor model (also sold under other brand names) looked quite similar and had favorable user reviews, so I ordered it. Unfortunately, what followed was a series of disappointments (see the list of shortcomings) and the return of the appliance to the seller, as it was completely unusable. You can't make a proper toast (let alone two thick slices of ordinary bread) in it and even thin slices of toasted bread will make a thin "biscuit" that has nothing to do with toast. Since this is apparently a feature of other current toasters, I decided to fix the old one.
