Upgrading from the Galaxy Watch 5 to the Watch 9 is a huge leap forward. What impressed me the most is the significantly smoother system, the brighter display in the sun, and the much longer battery life. The advanced sleep tracking and more accurate heart rate monitoring work brilliantly. In my opinion, it's the best watch for a Samsung Android!

I have been using Samsung watches since Galaxy watch active 2 was launched and upgraded from Galaxy watch 7. Compared to watch 7, watch customization improved significantly by introduction of new customisable watch faces. Using Gemini as a companion on your wrist proved invaluable when you just want a quick answer to a question or even to find some hidden setting in the watch menu.
more health analysis options
new customisable watch faces
larger screen and battery
charging significantly slower than Watch 7 (might be software related)

As a first smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 9 is a decent choice overall, because it offers a lot of useful features and is only slightly more expensive than the older Watch 8. As a normal person with a bit of healthy scepticism, however, I do have a few minor reservations, although they are mostly small details. In practice, the unnecessarily short charging cable is quite disappointing, as is the fact that the charger doesn't hold onto the watch very securely. And although the overall design is well-done, it's comfortable to type on, and it reliably measures a load of bodily functions from sleep to temperature to a barometer, the watch just feels quite high on my wrist and simply sticks out a bit too much. Overall, though, these minor issues are easily outweighed by the brilliantly fine-tuned system and how well and intuitively it works in real-world use.
Beautiful design
weight
features, sleep tracking also works during the day (short naps)
short charging cable
The charger could hold a little more firmly.
Feels quite high.

As always, well-made, and the ergonomics of the small model are perfect. The protective film was applied acceptably by the seller, but you could probably do a better job yourself. The Galaxy Watch9 is light, thin, and very comfortable on the wrist. The controls are responsive (as you'd expect with a 3nm chip), we'll see how often it needs restarting. Still no dedicated torch, but 3000 nits will probably solve most situations. It gets as warm as the Watch8 when charging, but at least the chargers are compatible. I guessed the strap size right, but only just – it would be good to have an option with some measuring guide, though I'll be using my other trusty one from the Watch8 anyway. Can't wait for it to have respiratory or cardiac arrest detection, even if it's unofficial.
and the compact 40mm are very usable
display (+torch) is just as good as the Watch8
only a minor change from the Watch8

I upgraded my watch from a really old version, specifically the Galaxy Watch 4, so it had been through a lot, and so far I'm very happy with the Galaxy Watch 9. The battery life is at least a bit longer, and the running coach is a great motivator to get active. Making calls via the watch is superb – the sound is clear and the person on the other end can hear me well. The watch has a sophisticated design, and the watch faces even offer the option to create your own design with a photo. The AI assistant can help with quick advice so I don't have to pull out my phone straight away. Everything works as it should. I also appreciate the 'health' features like blood pressure monitoring, ECG, body composition, sleep apnoea checks, and any further advice regarding rest or physical activity. I was hesitating for a long time about whether to get another Samsung because of the battery or go for a watch from a different manufacturer, but in the end, I'm glad I made my decision.
My only concern is the raised glass and the possibility of scratching its edges. Otherwise, nothing so far.

I bought this watch for my wife, as she already has a Samsung watch. My wife is thrilled with the watch; in her words, it's brilliant. She is enthusiastic about the longer battery life, and she really likes the watch's interface and the overall design. She chose the 40mm version as she has a smaller wrist and is happy with the size. She also makes great use of the health functions and is trying out the new features that this watch has. In my opinion, the watch is a success overall, and I can only recommend it.
For me, the battery life could have been longer, but my wife is happy with it, so it's okay.

I wear the watch pretty much non-stop, and the main thing I have to praise is the weight. You can barely feel the 40mm on your wrist; after a few days, you stop noticing it, even when sleeping. In terms of looks, they're discreet — the black version doesn't come across as a 'gadget', so I have no problem wearing it with more formal clothing. The display is brilliant. It's readable even in direct sunlight; I don't have to shield it with my hand or raise my wrist to my eyes, I just look and I can see. The only thing I would criticise is the battery life. I charge it every morning, which I personally don't mind — it's become part of my routine, and I don't think about it. But anyone expecting to throw the watch on the charger once over the weekend and be done with it will probably be disappointed. You have to be prepared for daily charging.

I'm upgrading from a Galaxy Watch 5 and I can see a huge difference in speed and battery life, as well as in the display's readability and usability. Apps load faster, the watch doesn't lag. After the first charge, the battery managed almost two days of life, even with recording shorter activities, compared to the Watch 5, which I had to charge every few hours when recording an activity with GPS. The dual-frequency GPS calculates kilometres driven or walked and metres climbed more accurately. Overall, I also appreciate the number of health functions and measurement analyses available.

I upgraded to the Watch9 from the Watch5 and it's a really big difference. The watch sits on the wrist much better, it's a lot flatter and therefore more comfortable not just for everyday wear but also for things like workouts. Kettlebell workouts are now much more comfortable and I don't have to worry so much about breaking it. Compared to my previous watch, the GPS connects much faster so I finally don't have to wait 15 minutes before I can start my run. The downside is the incredibly long charging time (hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update) and the overall battery life.
