I originally wanted to return the beater because it didn't seem to do much (weak stroke), but after renting a pro beater I realized that beaters aren't magic and the result is similar. Therefore, I rate it positively overall and will keep this small, portable brush for minor accidents and car/couch/chair cleaning. I will continue to rent a pro machine for carpeting, if only for the ergonomics.
