I returned the product because even though it says on it that you can connect CD/DVD drives it is not so.
The converter has a PATA interface for old devices, but you can't connect a CD/DVD drive with a PATA interface to it because the power connector and the PATA connector on the drive are near each other and simply power and the converter can't be mechanically connected there at once.
Another thing is that the power supply goes to the CD/DVD drive in reverse so you can swap +5V and +12V which will destroy the device.
So I decided to return the device because for me unusable and will not be anywhere to look for another extension to the PATA connector it works out cheaper to buy a DVD drive to the notebook with USB.
Before returning it, I thought I'd test the HDD connection, and that didn't work either.
Under Linux the converter was detected fine, but it didn't communicate with the connected PATA HDD - why I have no idea, I didn't investigate. (On HDD set up correctly with jumpers as master. )
And I tried connecting a SATA older HDD and even with this one it wouldn't communicate with the error that the HDD is too big?

Under linux it didn't want to communicate with both PATA and SATA 3.5" HDDs even when the power supply was connected and the drive spun up.
