A brilliant little gadget. It shaves smoothly and without a mess. Unfortunately, it doesn’t alert you in any way when the battery is running low. So I picked up the machine in the morning, switched it on (there was no sign of the battery being low), switched it off, packed it away and left. In the evening, I shave my head, and about two-thirds of the way through, the shaver switches off and the red battery indicator light flashes. Of course, I haven’t got the cable with me. So a big thank you to the engineers at Philips! The instructions state that the shaver will alert you when the battery is low, at which point it will still be able to manage one more shave.

When the battery is low, it simply signals the need to recharge via the indicator. When fully charged, it offers up to 60 minutes of use. The quick 5-minute charge feature means that after the battery has run out, a 5-minute charge will give you enough power for approximately one shave – however, this is not a notification about the remaining capacity.
