I recommend it, I used to have DSLRs. My eyesight has gotten worse and I was looking for a replacement. Compared to a DSLR, the conversion of time and focal length is different. The M mode isn't a classic manual mode like you'd find on a Canon, for example. It has a lot of automation, for instance, if you want exposure compensation, you have to have the ISO on auto, but if you want AWB mode, the ISO must be on manual, otherwise the AWB mode won't work. I don't use the automatic and other functions much. The sport mode is good. I bought a few filters and a 50mm lens (which has great definition). Some issues, like sharpening or light correction, were fixed by a new firmware update. I won't describe the filters, modes or web interface etc. here, since I shoot in RAW and it doesn't matter there. It's definitely a good buy when comparing Canon and Lumix in the same price class. The Lumix G97 would get an 8/10 rating, the Canon one step lower (the price of components etc. really brings it down).
