Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the Nespresso coffee machine, and after this experience I’d rather steer clear of the brand! After about a year and a half of use, the milk container system broke down. The complaint was rejected on the grounds that the coffee machine needs descaling. The paradox is that the fault reported was precisely that it was not possible to connect the milk container or the cleaning accessories correctly, and therefore it was not possible to run the relevant cleaning and maintenance programmes. The service centre did not identify a specific fault, nor did it specify which part was allegedly damaged by limescale. Instead, he charged 800 CZK for descaling, stating that only then would it be possible to determine the actual cause of the fault. In other words, the claim was rejected before the fault had even been diagnosed. I was also disappointed by Alza’s attitude. The customer is faced with a choice: either pay the amount requested or have the device returned without further action. I felt there was a lack of effort to assess the situation objectively and explain it transparently. It’s not so much about the 800 CZK as it is about the principle. If a complaint can be rejected simply on the basis of a general assertion that descaling has not been carried out, without any specific cause for the fault being demonstrated, then the customer is placed at a significant disadvantage. Following this experience, I would recommend considering a coffee machine from a different brand and, before making a purchase, thoroughly checking the terms and conditions regarding the handling of any complaints.
