The car is made of hard plastic, I probably wouldn't take it outside because the wheels are made of lots of little wheels. I would be worried about them getting messy and not working properly. Unfortunately, we had the first one that had a faulty contact, so it kept shutting off even with a small bump. The other one had a thread torn off, so you couldn't even get into it.
