The mechanism for locking the height in place does not involve rotating the pole, but rather pulling the tip away from the base until it clicks into place, adjusting it, and then pulling it away again. If you follow the (rather daft) rule of changing the size before every hill, this could be an obstacle (or perhaps a challenge, after which you’ll realise that this is a better way to adjust the pole height?) ).
